THE HIGHER TASTE

Granola Cherry Cheese Squares.

Prep Time: 20 minutes plus baking time.
Servings: 6-9
Preheat: 350ºF (180ºC)

Nutty, cheesy, fruity … and very, very yummy.

What You'll Need
2 cups (500 mL) granola, crushed
¼ cup (50 mL) slivered almonds, toasted and chopped
¼ cup (50 mL) butter, melted
1 pkg (225 g) cream cheese, softened
1 can (300 mL) Regular or Low Fat sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup (75 mL) lemon juice
1 tsp (5 mL) almond extract
1 can (19 oz/540 mL) cherry pie filling, chilled

What's Next:
1. Combine granola, almonds and butter; mix well. Reserve 1 cup (250 mL) granola mixture crumbled loosely in small baking pan; press remainder on bottom of 9-inch (23 cm) square baking pan. Bake both pans in preheated 350ºF (180ºC) oven 10 minutes; cool.

2. Beat cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in condensed milk until smooth. Stir in lemon juice and almond extract. Pour into prepared 9-inch (2.5 L) square baking pan.

3. Top with toasted crumbled granola mixture. Chill. Serve with pie filling. Refrigerate leftovers.
