Date cake.
Ingredients.
1½ cups chopped dates
1 cup boiling water
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon yogourt
1½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped Walnuts
Preparation.
Combine dates with water; cool to room temperature. Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add vanilla extract and yogourt; beat well. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together; add to creamed mixture alternately with date mixture, beating after each addition. Add nuts. Bake in greased 13 x 9½ x 2-inch pan in moderate oven at 350° F for 25 to 30 minutes.
